Bateau au Cap d'Agde


One day to discover the "Canal du Midi" (listed in the Unesco World Heritage). This canal, which links the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean sea, was built 350 years ago by Paul Riquet. The city of Bézier built on this canal is known as the capital of wine in Languedoc. You will be fashinated by the roman-oriental gothic style of its cathedral, rebuilt in 1209 after the Albigese crusade.The visit will end with a boat trip along the Cap d'Agde volcanic cliffs.

 

Program:
Leaving 9am

Morning: Walk along the "canal du Midi" (listed in the Unesco World Heritage) till the famous "9 écluses de Fonserannes". Visit of the historical center of Béziers and its charming narrow medieval streets until the cathedral roman-gothic of  St Nazaire. Beautiful panorama from the top of the cathedral on the city.


Middy: Possibility to have lunch in a restaurant where to taste some specialities of the region such as the gâteau "Bitterois" typical dish of the city  (menu from 12 euros).

After lunch: Leasure time on the volcanic beach (black sand) of Cap d'Agde (unique in France). 


Afternoon: Boat trip on the Mediterranean sea along the volcanic cliffs of the island du fort Brescou (ancient state prison).
